Mary and I extend our sincere sympathy to Nancy and Vince's entire family. We worked with Nancy for many years and had the opportunity to meet Vince at social functions. He was a gentleman and treated Nancy and all those he encountered with great respect, courtesy, and kindness. We admired him greatly for the courage and poise he displayed in dealing with his health challenges. May his soul rest in peace in the presence of The Lord for eternity.

God saw him getting tired, and a cure was not to be,So he put his arms around him,and Whispered "Come With Me".With tearful eyes we watched him suffer and saw him fade away. Although we loved him dearly, we could not make him stay.A golden heart stopped beating, Hard working hands at rest,God broke our hearts to prove to us he only takes the best.

Vince, sixty four years I've admired and loved you along with your brother, Buddy. I was four the first time I realized you were my cousins. I was so impressed someone of your great age (maybe 16) was interested in my small person. I've never forgotten that first meeting nor any of the ones since. I will miss you, your caring nature, your honesty and your integrity. You set great examples for us to strive for. Give Aunt Rita a huge hug for me. Rest in peace.Love,Maura

Lakewood - Vincent K. Walter, beloved husband and father, age 85, of Cowing Rd., Lakewood, passed away at his home at 11:50a.m., Monday, June 24, 2013, after a long illness.
He was born on February 26, 1928, in Syracuse, the son of Clarence O. and Margaret (Rita) Walter. Vince was a Navy veteran, discharged March 1953. He called the Lakewood area his home for the last 46 years.
Surviving are his wife of 42 years Nancy Walter, whom he married September 19, 1970 in Jamestown, N.Y.; 3 sons, Chad Walter, of Washington, DC; Paul E. & Lori Walter of Denver, CO; Vincent K. & Kenyon Walter, Jr., of Dallas, TX; 2 grandsons, Shane and Cody; and 2 granddaughters, Ryan-Bianca and Sydney; and a brother Clarence (Bud) Walter of Fayetteville, N.Y. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. Vince had a wonderful professional sales career in the steel industry. He was a mentor to all including his three sons and grandchildren. He lived his life by the golden rule, he was a man with pure integrity. As the leader of our family, Dad challenged us all in ways we never would have imagined. We are all better people today as a result of this.
Friends will be received by the family on Wednesday, July 3rd from 4-7 p.m. at the Mason Funeral Home, 37 Clinton St., Westfield, N.Y. The funeral service will be held on Friday, July 5th at 11:00a.m. at the Mason Funeral Home conducted by the Rev. Msgr. Joseph M. Dowdell of Sacred Heart Church, Lakewood and Pastor Lee O'Brien of Busti Federated Church. The graveside service will be officiated by Fr. Jospeh Walter of St. Dominic's Parish of Westfield.
We give a special thanks to Hospice for their care and support and also to Angel, RoseAnn, Lisa, Tammy and Mary Jo of the "Angel's In-Home Care" as they all were a fantastic group of people helping us through the journey, we could not have made it through the weeks without them. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Chautauqua County, 20 West Fairmount Ave., Lakewood, N.Y., 14750.
