Lakewood - Vincent K. Walter, beloved husband and father, age 85, of Cowing Rd., Lakewood, passed away at his home at 11:50a.m., Monday, June 24, 2013, after a long illness.
He was born on February 26, 1928, in Syracuse, the son of Clarence O. and Margaret (Rita) Walter. Vince was a Navy veteran, discharged March 1953. He called the Lakewood area his home for the last 46 years.
Surviving are his wife of 42 years Nancy Walter, whom he married September 19, 1970 in Jamestown, N.Y.; 3 sons, Chad Walter, of Washington, DC; Paul E. & Lori Walter of Denver, CO; Vincent K. & Kenyon Walter, Jr., of Dallas, TX; 2 grandsons, Shane and Cody; and 2 granddaughters, Ryan-Bianca and Sydney; and a brother Clarence (Bud) Walter of Fayetteville, N.Y. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. Vince had a wonderful professional sales career in the steel industry. He was a mentor to all including his three sons and grandchildren. He lived his life by the golden rule, he was a man with pure integrity. As the leader of our family, Dad challenged us all in ways we never would have imagined. We are all better people today as a result of this.
Friends will be received by the family on Wednesday, July 3rd from 4-7 p.m. at the Mason Funeral Home, 37 Clinton St., Westfield, N.Y. The funeral service will be held on Friday, July 5th at 11:00a.m. at the Mason Funeral Home conducted by the Rev. Msgr. Joseph M. Dowdell of Sacred Heart Church, Lakewood and Pastor Lee O'Brien of Busti Federated Church. The graveside service will be officiated by Fr. Jospeh Walter of St. Dominic's Parish of Westfield.
