I remember meeting once in my life at my fathers Fred’s funeral. My mother did not tell me who she was until after I left the funeral home. My mom tended to keep a lot from me and my siblings. Sarah would be my aunt as well as Anita. I would love to hear from other family members. I was born in Westfield back in 1969. I remember my father working in a grape vineyard. I remember moving to ripley at the age of 4 and then onto Jamestown. I have found Phillip carden and have talked to him. He is my second cousin. I took a dna test and am on ancestry.com. You can fina me there under Patricia slocum smith. I would love to hear stories about Sarah. I do know that one of them was my foster mom for a while when I was a baby till I was maybe 2 or so. I am so sorry that she passed. My thoughts and prayers go out to family. Patricia slocum smith
So sorry to hear this. I will miss getting my birthday cards every year. Sarah was my partner in crime at Meeders for many years. I am sure there are many of her customers waiting for her to bring coffee. Thoughts and Prayers to all of you.
I knew Sarah for most of my life. I met her as a teen. At first I was afraid of her. She kept us in check when we went to Meeder’s for cherry cokes and fries. Later in life we worked together at Meeder’s for a time and I found out that she wasn’t really scary. In fact she was fun and funny. She also was a hard worker. I remember her working a full shift and then going out to pick or tie grapes until dark. Rest in peace Sarah; you deserve it.
