I am saddened to read of Miss Bernges' death. She was the school nurse in Westfield for my entire elementary and high school. I remember her as a very capable and efficient woman, compassionate and professional in her navy blue uniform. She never seemed to get older, year after year! She was one-of-a kind.
We took Esther to our HS reunion a few years back. QG and Kathy Best and me. She was the greatest reminded me of all the school I missed. My mom also an RN had books and I invented illnesses. She drew the line at "the black Plauge" and I finally graduated. Thanks to "our school nurse.
Our deepest sympathy goes out to Esther's family. Esther was a remarkable woman, who made a real differnce in this world. We were very lucky to have known her.
Esther was delightful to be around! She was such a good friend to my Mom, Mary Cogliano and part of the great memories I have of Westfield Academy and Central School! A positive soul even when she wasn't feeling well! She'll be missed.
Family and friends are coming together online to create a special keepsake. Every memory left on the online obituary will be automatically included in this book.
