WESTFIELD - John W. "Jay" Rednock, Jr., age 55, of West Lake Road, Westfield died unexpectedly, Saturday, October 25, 2008 at Westfield Memorial Hospital.
John was born on September 14, 1953 in Pittsburgh, PA the son of the late John W. and Marion (Reardon) Rednock.
A Westfield resident since 1966, he was a 1972 graduate of Westfield Academy and had been employed by Welch foods in Westfield for 29 years. An avid motorcycle rider, his Harley Davidson was his pride and joy. John was a member of the Chautauqua County Chapter of ABATE and the Rolling Thunder Motorcycle Club of Erie, PA, and was a member of AMVETS Post 6472 Riders. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and being in the great outdoors. He was an accomplished musician who played Bass Guitar with several local bands. He enjoyed outdoor cooking, roasting and grilling. Jay was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose # 118 of Westfield, a social member of the American Legion and the VFW both of Westfield. John liked to hunt treasure with his metal detector and was a member of the Federation of Metal Detector & Archeological Clubs, Inc. He was known in the area for his carpentry and roofing skills. He loved it when his granddaughters would call him Papa.
He is survived by his son: Jacob (Tracy) Rednock of Dunkirk, NY, his daughter: Jenny Rednock of Lugoff, SC, his three granddaughters; Brandy Lee and Savannah Rose Rednock both of Dunkirk, and Teyanna Rednock of Lugoff, SC. He is further survived by his two sisters: June (Roy) Peters of North East, PA, and Janine (James Bowen) Crandall of Ripley, NY, and his one brother Joe (Gail Dalessio) F. Rednock of Maybrook, NY. Jay is further survived by his aunts and Uncles; Howard and Mildred Reardon of Virginia, Shirley and Linus Darley of Connecticut, George and Carolyn LaPorte of Westfield, and Dorothy Reardon of Pittsburgh, PA. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant brother, James Rednock.
Friends may call on Wednesday from 5-9 PM at the MASON Funeral Home, 37 Clinton Street, Westfield, NY where the Funeral Services will be held on Thursday morning at 10:00 AM with Rev. Matthew Golibersuch officiating. Burial will be in Westfield Cemetery.
