James W. Ditch, 75, of Ripley, NY died unexpectedly on Thursday, December 31, 2020 at his home following a brief illness.

He was born on September 16, 1945 in Indiana, Pa. the son of the late John and Catherine (Fletcher) Ditch.

Surviving are his beloved wife, Deborah (Lehman) Ditch; a son, James Ditch of Fate, TX; a daughter, Kim (Bill) Doyle of Allen, TX; a step-son, Brian (Renee) Best of Colonial Heights, VA; a step-daughter, Michele (Larry) Dolen of Westfield, NY; nine grandchildren, Brittany Monchein, Samantha and Zachary Doyle, Alyssa Best, Joshua Dolen, Jared and Teagan Best, Tyler and Mason Ditch; two great grandchildren, Braylon and Teddy.

Jim was an accomplished mason having worked in WNY and Erie, Pa. in the construction business. He retired from Ron Chapman Construction Co. in Erie, Pa. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy and was a member of the Westfield VFW Post 6764.

He thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors and loved to hunt and fish. He will be remembered for his kind and generous personality. He would help anybody in need. Jim relished the fact that he could live close to Lake Erie.

Private services were held. A Celebration of Jim’s Life will be held at a future date to be announced.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mason Funeral Home, 37 Clinton St. Westfield, NY.
