Barbara R. Lynn, 76, of Westfield, NY passed away Wednesday morning, November 25,2020 at Absolut Care of Westfield.
She was born in Erie, Pa, the daughter of the late Clayton and Inez (Southworth) Rumsey.
Barb is survived by her loving & devoted husband, Henry “Hank” Lynn; a daughter, Julie (Patrick) Murphy of Woodbine, NJ, a son, Skip Lynn of Greenville, SC; a grandson, Justin Murphy; two brothers, Frank (Eileen) Rumsey of Greensboro, NC and Steven (Mary) Rumsey of Simpsonville, SC.
Barb graduated from Lawrence Park High School in 1962, she continued her studies at Slippery Rock University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in “Elementary Education”. She was active member on the Slippery Rock newspaper, “the Rocket” and the school yearbook. Barb ran the Day Care program at the First Presbyterian Church in Westfield for a number of years, she also worked for the Westfield Academy and Central School in their Chapter Program as a teacher’s aide. Most importantly, Barb was a homemaker taking care of her family.
Barb enjoyed arts & crafts especially crocheting and knitting, she was an expert doily maker. At Christmas time she could be found making decorations for family and friends. She was a charter member of the “Monday Night Club”, socializing and crafts were their priority.
At the request of the deceased, there will be no visitation. A Celebration of Barbara’s Life will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial gifts in Barbara’s honor may be made to the Elementary Education Dept. at Slippery Rock University. Checks should be made out to the SRU Foundation or can be done online at www.srufoundation.org/give.
