Obituary of Bessie L. Wood

WESTFIELD - Bessie L. (Lloyd) Wood, age 80, of Felton Rd., Westfield, passed away Thursday, January 24, 2019, at home following a brief illness.

Bessie was born on August 27, 1938, in Westfield, New York, a daughter of the late Raymond and Eleanor (Phillips) Lloyd.

Bessie graduated from Westfield Academy and Central School and had been employed for many years as a Field Boss for George LaPorte Farms, of Westfield.  She enjoyed gardening, all sorts of Crafts, fishing and playing cards. Bessie loved taking care of her land and would often be seen mowing her yard with her riding mower and cruising around her property in her golf cart. However, Bessie’s main love was for her family, especially her grandchildren.

Survivors include her two sons, Edward A. Wood of Westfield and Steve (Pam) Wood of Chambersburg, PA, as well as her beloved 8 Grandchildren and 10 Great grandchildren.  Bessie is further survived by her two sisters, Betty Blackburn and Xenia Lloyd both of Dunkirk, NY.                   

She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Raymond "Woody" Wood, and by her two sons, Daniel J. Wood and Paul A Wood, as well as by her brother, Leo R. Lloyd and her twin sister, Irene Lloyd.

At Bessie's request, no visitation will be observed and all Services will be private. 

In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made in Bessie’s name to The Westfield Memorial Hospital Foundation, 189 East Main St., Westfield, NY 14787.
