Obituary of Loretta G. Baideme

Loretta G. Baideme, 87 of 32 Franklin Street, Westfield, NY died Sunday, June 1, 2008 surrounded by her family at Heritage Green in Greenhurst, NY. She was born May 8, 1921 in North East, PA daughter of the late Louis and Jennie Chimera Giordano. She graduated from North East High School and worked at Erie General Electric as part of the war effort. After marrying Philip J. Baideme on November 9, 1946 she moved to Westfield where she raised her family and worked at various businesses in the community. One of her great joys was assisting her husband with his fruit farm especially the strawberries.
Loretta was an active member of St. James Major Roman Catholic Church where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and member and past officer of the Altar and Rosary Society.
She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, cooking, gardening and her greatest joy was keeping a happy home and spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Philip on September 5, 2001 after 54 years of marriage and two sisters, Sally G. Neff and Frances Giordano.
Loretta is survived by her three children, Patricia (Bruce) Limberg of Jamestown, NY, Philip (Carol) Baideme of Westfield and Virginia (Michael) Finn of Dallas, TX; a sister Josephine (Cosimo) Triana of North East, PA; and six grandchildren, Annika (Taylor) Putney, Jared (Leasen) Limberg, Matthew Baideme, Nathan Baideme, Brian Finn and Amanda Finn. Loretta was the proud great-grandmother of Braden Finn, Evelyn Limberg and Holden Putney.
Friends may call at the Mason Funeral Home, 37 Clinton Street, Westfield, NY on Thursday, June 5, 2008 from 2-4 PM preceded by the Rosary at 1:45 PM. Evening visitation will be 7-9 PM. A Mass celebrating her life will be held on Friday, June 6, 2008 at 11 AM at St. James Major Church. Burial will follow at St. James Major Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Philip J. Baideme 7th Grade Gettysburg Trip Scholarship in care of Westfield Central School or to St. James Major Catholic Church General Fund.
