Obituary of S. Okey

WESTFIELD - S. Paul Okey , age 69, of Westfield died unexpectedly, Monday, February 25, 2008 at Westfield Memorial Hospital. He was born on December 23, 1938 in Akron, OH the son of the late Stanley Leroy and Ada (Bordner) Okey. A US Army Veteran, he served in the National Guard Reserves from 1956-1964. Mr. Okey graduated from Boston Township High School in Peninsula, Ohio and received a Masters in Education Degree from Adams State College in Alamosa, Colorado. He retired as a Historian with the Dept. of the Interior, National Park Service after 31 years of service. He recently enjoyed substitute teaching in the Washington County area. He has been a resident of Westfield for the past 18 months, and was a member of St. Peter?s Episcopal Church. He thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors. While in Greenwich, he was a member of the Greenwich Historical Association; he was on the Greenwich Town Planning Committee and was a Committeeman for the Democratic Party. Paul is survived his wife of 43 years, Carole F. (Groves) Okey, whom he married on August 15th, 1964 in Alamosa, Colorado. He is further survived by his two sons, Brian W. Okey and his wife Lizanne Porter of Indiana, Pennsylvania, and Alan R. Okey of Troy, New York, his two granddaughters, Rachel P. Okey and Erin P. Okey of Indiana, Pennsylvania and his sister Sara Ellen Okey of Millersburg, Ohio. No calling hours will be observed. Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service to be held on Saturday, March 1 at 10:30 am at St. Peters? Episcopal Church, 12 Elm St., Westfield, with the Rev. Kim Baker, Rector officiating.
