WESTFIELD - William Otis Gerould, age 91, of Westfield, died Friday, April 27, 2018 at Absolut Care of Westfield, NY. William was born on January 2, 1927 in Pittsburgh, PA, a son of the late Francis and Jessica (Fullerton) Gerould. He grew up in North East, PA. He married Marian N. Nowak on June 6, 1948 in Westfield, NY. Mr. Gerould was a member of Westfield Fish and Game Club and the Wm. P Jackway Post 6764 VFW. He had been employed at the Welch Grape Juice Factory in Westfield, NY as a receiving clerk before being called upon to serve his Country during WW ll from 1944 until his Honorable discharge in 1946. After serving his Country he was employed as a carpenter for many years with Jackson Builders of Westfield, NY. Bill enjoyed wood working, building and construction and was an exceptional carpenter, having built many homes. He built the homes he and his family lived in at 40 Crandall Street and 83 North Gale Street both in Westfield. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Marian N. (Nowak) Gerould, his one son: Dr. Jeffrey (Ellen) Gerould of Westfield, NY, his one sister Merle Funston of Tiften, OH, and his two brothers, Howard "Howdy" Gerould of North East, PA and Wilbur (Bea) Gerould of Deltona, FL. William was the proud grandfather of S. Alexander (Shannon) Gerould and Brittany (Wes Gillispie) Gerould and great-grandfather to Hudson McKay Gillispie and Brianna Rose Gerould. His jokes will be missed by all including his many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Marlene Shondel, Betty Saunders, and Shirley Fogel. All Service will be private. Burial will be in Westfield Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Westfield Fish and Game Club, PO Box 481, Westfield, NY 14787.
