Obituary of Patricia C. Smith

WESTFIELD - Patricia C. (Colbert) Smith, age 85, of Westfield, died Sunday, June 18, 2017 at Absolut Care of Westfield following an extended illness. "Pat" was born on March 6, 1932 in Homestead, PA, the daughter of the late Frank and Theresa (O'Brien) Colbert. She attended Youngsville, PA, High School, graduating in 1950. Pat worked at various office and Clerical positions over the years. Most recently at Crown Hill Stone of Westfield prior to full retirement in the mid 1990's. Pat loved to follow her sports teams, including the Buffalo Bills and Sabres as well as the Detroit Tigers. She also loved her Ceramics classes, and she had a unique collection of Salt and Pepper Shakers that were always conversation pieces. Pat was very community minded, volunteering her time for the Westfield Academy and Central School Sports Boosters and the Westfield Little League. She was also involved with the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #118 of Westfield and the Women of the Moose Chapter 517. Pat was a faithful member of the former St. James Major Church and the current St. Dominic's Roman Catholic Churches of Westfield, where she volunteered countless hours and was a long time member of the Church's Altar and Rosary Society. She was also a member of the John W. Rogers Post 327 American Legion Auxiliary. She is survived by her children that includes three sons: Lawrence Smith and Timothy Smith both of Westfield, NY and Robert Smith of Corning, NY, and her one daughter: Catherine (James) Weidemann of Dubuque, IA. Pat was the proud grandmother of: Aaron, Joshua and Noah Smith all of Westfield, Kayleigh McDaniel of Chicago, IL, Ryan and Jaime Weidemann of Dubuque, IA, Jacob and Anna Smith of Corning, NY and was great grandmother of Maximus and Sawyer Smith. She is further survived by her sister Dolores Kaufman of Westfield and her brother Frank "Bud' Colbert of Jackson, NJ, as well as dozens of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Royce Edward Smith, her 2 sisters, Rita Boyer and Peggy Holcomb and by her brother, Thomas Colbert. Friends may call on Thursday, June 22, 2017, from 7-9 PM at the MASON Funeral Home, 37 Clinton Street, Westfield, NY and are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 11:00 am on Friday, June 23, 2017 at St. Dominic RC Church, 15 Union Street, Westfield, NY with Fr. Romeo Hontiveros officiating. Burial will be private in St. James Cemetery. A Parish Rosary Service will be held at the Funeral Home Thursday evening at 7 PM. Flowers are gratefully declined.
