Obituary of Rudy J. Damonti

Rudy J. Damonti, Jr., age 59, of Harborcreek, PA, formerly of Ripley, NY, passed away peacefully Friday, November 11, 2016 with his family at his side, at UPMC-Hamot Medical Center of Erie, PA following a brief illness.
Rudy was born on September 13, 1957 in the Bronx, NY, a son of Mary Ann (Costa) Damonti of Valley Cottage, NY and the late Rudy J. Damonti who died on March 21, 2013..
Rudy was a graduate of Nyack High School and Simmons School of Embalming and Funeral Service.
He had been an NYS Licensed Funeral Director for over 29 years. He had been employed by the White Funeral Home in Nyack, NY and in 1988 he purchased the Mathews Funeral Home in Ripley, NY and operated that until his retirement in 2009. Rudy had been a member of the former St. Thomas More RC Church of Ripley, the Westfield Kiwanis Club, the Westfield Moose Lodge, Summit Lodge #219 F & AM, and the Chautauqua County Funeral Directors Association. He had been on the Board of Directors of Quincy Cemetery and had been a Boy Scout Leader in Ripley for several years.
Rudy had a passion for sports and had coached Youth Soccer in Ripley for many years.
He was a fan of the Buffalo Bills, the NY Nicks, the NY Yankees and the Buffalo Sabres,
However, family was everything to Rudy. He greatly enjoyed family outings and barbeques, as well as road trips and walks on the beach. He could never get enough family time.
Besides his mother, Mary Ann, Rudy is survived by his wife of 36 years, Theresa (Wetmore) Damonti, whom he married on August 22, 1980 in Pike, NY and by his daughter: Denise (Joe Wright) Damonti of Jamestown, NY and his two sons: Rudy (Becky Pratt) Damonti of Jamestown, NY and Anthony (Maggie) Damonti of Erie, PA. He is further survived by his two brothers: John (Barbara) Damonti of NYC, and Joseph (Monica) Damonti of New City, NY. Rudy was the very proud grandfather of: Bella Damonti, Arianne and Anakin Damonti, all of Jamestown, and Dylan Damonti of Erie, PA. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Friends may call at the MASON Funeral Home, 37 Clinton Street, Westfield, NY on Saturday, November 19, 2016 from 12 noon until 2 PM when Funeral Services will begin with Fr. John J. Murphy officiating. Burial will be private.
