Obituary of Joseph J. Schuster

Please share a memory of Joseph to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
WESTFIELD, NY - Joseph J. Schuster, age 74, of Rt. 5, Westfield, died Monday, September 5, 2016 at home surrounded by his family. Joe was born on May 24, 1942 in Westfield, a son of the late Joseph P. and Jennette (Ornehaug) Schuster. He married Judith D. Bower on June 7, 1969 in Ripley, NY. A Westfield resident all his life, Joe was a 1960 graduate of Westfield Academy and served in the US Air Force from 1960 until his Honorable Discharge in 1964. Joe had been a Machinist at Renold, Inc. for over 36 years. Joe was a perfectionist. Right was right and wrong was wrong. There was no gray area in between. He was an avid fisherman on his boat, REEL FUN. He was always trying to find out the best color of lure and what type of lure to use to entice the Yellow Pike to bite. He kept the boat in excellent running order and was always making improvements. Bowling was a passion. He was a member of the Monday Night Men's league at North East Lanes. He was a long time member of the Moose league. He often participated in various local, State and national tournaments. He played baseball in high school and softball in the Westfield Recreation Department league. He has been a long time Cleveland Indians fan and had to turn the channel when they started losing a game. Joe always supported his children in their Academic, Sport and Musical endeavors. He enjoyed talking about farming and tractors with his son in law Josh. He enjoyed helping his brother Jim build and repair farm equipment and would often be awake most of a night solving a problem. He looked forward to going to trade shows with Jim and meeting many grape growers. He kept the family vehicles (although pretty old) running in good condition. Being a perfectionist, many of the repairs he made were better than the original product. He particularly loved working in his barn and enjoyed hosting many family picnics and reunions in the barn. He'll be greatly missed by all his family and friends. Memories are God's gift to us so remember Joe, Dad, Grampa, Brother, Uncle and Friend. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Judith D. (Bower) Schuster, his two daughters: Janelle (Jeff) Hefner of Westfield, NY and Julie (Josh) Morris of Wooster, OH and his one son: Joseph P. "Joey" (Kelly Boyer) Schuster of North East, PA. Joe was the proud grandfather of Jacob Henry "Hank" and Jensen Jay Morris of Wooster, OH and Kory (Hefner) Bouch of Grove City, PA. Joe is further survived by his three sisters: Judy (Fred Kump) Augenbaugh of Lackawanna, NY, Janice (Montgomery) Taylor of NYC and Jackie (Gary Hemmer) Nundy of Westfield, as well as by his two brothers, Jim (Nancy) and Jeffrey Schuster both of Westfield, NY. Many Nieces and Nephews also survive.
