I am so saddened to hear of Betsy's passing. I remember the many good times we had with her and Robert J., as well as in our visit to her home in Westfield. She was such a wonderful, talented friend who who loved sharing her passion for music with others, especially children.

I met Betsy when she first started attending Quaker Meeting in Fredonia. She seemed self-assured and comfortable in our meeting but at the time I knew nothing of her years of association with the Religious Society of Friends. As we became acquainted, I learned of her tax witness and found we had common ground in learning to trust the guidance of our own conscience. I'm not sure which of us was more surprised to discover that we read and were influenced by Leo Tolstoy's "The Law of Love and the Law of Violence". I am grateful to have known Betsy.

Betsy and I go back quite a few years. We had a shared enthusiasm for books, libraries, writing and music and I have fond memories of her beautiful home in Westfield and time spent at the grand piano. We shared sheet music, played for each other and sometimes played duets. I will miss her and deeply regret that I am unable to attend the memorial meeting tomorrow.

Joel and I came to know Betsy when she came to Capital University, in Columbus, OH, to help Denise Bacon celebrate the 25th Anniversary of KCA. We quickly became good friends. Who could not readily become a friend of Betsy's. Her great laugh, zest for life and music, and kind spirit make you feel welcome.
When she moved to Westfield, Joel and I often stopped for tea and a visit at her family home, on our way to visit our family in North Chili and Bloomfield, NY. I also was a graduate of SUNY Fredonia - class of 1966 - so I just missed meeting there!
Whereever Betsy was, there was sunshine and smiles, because of her spirit. We regret that we had not visited her the past few years and did not know of her illness. She is no longer in pain and reunited with her beloved, Robert.

My deepest sympathy goes out to all of you. Betsy and I were such good, faithful friends all through high school. We both played the flute in the band and did so many other things together. She was always happy, full of personality and accommodating to everyone. Betsy's enthusiasm was infectious. I spent many memorable time with her and your whole family. She will be greatly missed.
