Obituary of Steven A. Morrell

WESTFIELD - Steven A. Morrell, age 57, of Westfield-Sherman Road, Westfield, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at Westfield Memorial Hospital. Steven was born on July 28, 1958 in Westfield, NY, the son of the late Louis S. Morrell and Martha (Kaiser) Morrell of Westfield. A Westfield resident all his life, he attended Westfield Schools and had worked for Mogan David Wine Corp. for over 37 years, retiring in 2014 as Wine Department Supervisor. He enjoyed hunting, ice fishing, camping and NASCAR (Carl Edwards). Steve had a passion for cooking and was always exchanging recipes with friends and trying out new recipes. He was an outdoorsman, who enjoyed making maple syrup from the trees on his property. He also enjoyed making his own wine. Of all the things Steve enjoyed, his family was most important to him. Steve was a member of the Sons of the Legion and also a member of the VFW Auxiliary, where he served as Treasurer. Steve had a profound love for the VFW Post 6764 and considered it and its members his second family. Besides his mother, Martha of Westfield, Steve is survived by his wife of 29 years, Debra (Houser) Morrell; whom he married on June 21, 1986, and by his daughter, Stacy M. Morrell of Dunkirk, NY and by his son, Steven M. Morrell of Westfield. Steve was the proud grandfather of Noah and Lilyana Colon. He is further survived by his sister, Wendy Schrader of Brocton, NY, and by 2 nieces and 2 nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Louis S. Morrell who died on March 22, 1994. Friends may call on Friday, March 11, 2016 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the MASON Funeral Home, 37 Clinton Street, Westfield, NY, and are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at St. Dominic RC Church, 15 Union Street, Westfield, NY, with Msgr.
