Obituary of John T. Rawlinson

WESTFIELD - John T. Rawlinson, age 75, of Watson Ave., Westfield, died Saturday, July 11, 2015 at Westfield Memorial Hospital following an extended illness. John was born on September 24, 1939 in Littleborough, Lancashire County, England, the son of the late John Frederick and Janet Phyllis (Taylor) Rawlinson. He married Carolyn Dearden on October 12, 1963 in Rochdale, England. A resident of Westfield since November 1979, John and his family came to Westfield with Renold Inc. where he was the Vice President of Sales and Marketing. John started his 50 year career with Renold in 1956 in England and retired in 2006 having earned the Renold Lifetime Achievement award. John enjoyed Golf and "American Football" and was an avid Buffalo Bills fan. John enjoyed traveling with his family and his job. He was extremely proud of his community of Westfield and all of Chautauqua County. Never a moment went by when John was not volunteering for something. He had been President of the Westfield Rotary Club and was a Paul Harris Fellow, he was director of the Westfield Chamber of Commerce, receiving the Community Service award in 2011 and 2014, was a director of the Westfield Development Corp., a member of the Westfield Hospital Board of Directors and the Hospital Foundation Board, had been a volunteer member of the Westfield DPW Board and had also participated in numerous other community and Civic organizations. However, John's main love was his family; his wife, his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Carolyn (Dearden) Rawlinson, by his daughter: Jillian (Rob) Roache of Seattle, WA and his son: Andrew (Shannon) Rawlinson of Casselbury, FL. John was the very proud grandfather of Brittany and Zachary Roache of Seattle, WA, Dr. Taylor Rawlinson, PhD of Auburn, AL and Haley Rawlinson of Hickory, NC. John is further survived by his sister: Kathleen (Frank) Hoyle of Milnrow, England. He was preceded in death by his brother, Brian Rawlinson.
