Obituary of Alice Marie Bower

Ripley - Alice Marie (Snyder) Bower, age 96, of Ripley, died Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at Absolut Care of Westfield in Westfield, NY. Alice was born on July 9, 1918 in Pittsburgh, PA, the daughter of the late William Frederick and Marie (Tite) Snyder. She married Chester A. Bower on April 18, 1941 in Pittsburgh, PA . Chester preceded her in death on October 31, 1997. A resident of Ripley from 1952 until 1978, Alice moved to Florida and had resided in Port Charlotte and Spring Hill. When she came back north she resided for a few years in North East, PA and moved to Westfield in 2011. Alice was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Ripley, where she had been active in several Church activities, including being the Superintendent and teacher of the Sunday School, as well as being active in the Women's Circle and singing in the Choir. She was also a member of The Women of the Moose Chapter 517 of Westfield. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, canning and grape farming. While living in Florida Alice was known for entertaining and cooking dinner for her neighbors. She was active with her church in Florida and enjoyed being in the Choir and participating in Bible study groups. She was an awesome cook who's family loved everything she made. She is survived by her two daughters: Judith (Joseph) Schuster of Westfield, NY, and Sharon (Carl) Hypes of Princeton, WV, and by her two sons, David (Bonna) Bower of Ripley, NY and Gregory (Candy) Bower also of Ripley. 13 Grandchildren, many Great Grandchildren and 1 great great grandson also survive. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2015 at 11:00 Am at the First Presbyterian Church of Ripley, 20 W. Main Street, Ripley, NY with Pastor Phil Johnson officiating. Private burial will be in Quincy Rural Cemetery, Ripley, NY. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Ripley.
