Obituary of Joseph D. Ricketts

Joe moved to Westfield in 1930 and was a fixture on Main Street as owner and operator of Ricketts Market from 1938 until his reirement from there in 1970. Following his retirement he had worked for Pete Holt in theformer Brookwood Farms Markets .Joe was a 48 year (as of 7/07) member of Summitt Lodge 219 F&AM, where he was bestowed with the District Service Award. Joe is the longest living continuous member of the First Presbyterian Church and Society of Westfield, where he had been an Elder and deacon. Joe Ricketts was a people person, you could say people were his hobby. He volunteered many hours to our community as an Instituional Representative of Troop 1 of the Boy Scouts of America, a March of Dimes community coordinator, a volunteer at the Westfield/ Barcelona Information booth, and as a volunteer at the local nursing home. Joe was a member of the Westfield and Mayville Senior Citizen's groups.
