Obituary of Dolores J. Riddle

WESTFIELD - Dolores J. "Middy" (Middleton) Riddle, age 85, of Wood St., Westfield, died Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at Heritage Green Rehab and SNF in Greenhurst, NY, following a brief illness. Dolores was born on April 1, 1928 in Cleveland, OH, the daughter of the late Wallace James and Margaret F. (Fendler) Middleton. A Westfield resident since 2003, she and her late husband, "Bim", had moved here from Medina, Ohio to be closer to their family. "Middy" had spent most of her life in Ohio, where she was a 1947 graduate of Lakewood High School and attended St. Luke's Nursing School of Cleveland. She enjoyed reading, knitting, gardening and flowers; she raised some wicked Orchids! She had been an active member of "the Fire Bells", the Auxiliary for the Lafayette Fire Dept. of Ohio, and been a Girl Scout Leader and a 4-H leader. However, mostly, Dolores had been a dedicated homemaker who enjoyed raising her family and several foster children. She is survived by her two daughters: Susan Riddle of Westfield, NY, Penny Smith of Milford, MA and her son: Douglas Graham of Mission Viejo, CA. Many grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her Husband of 57 years, Robert W. "Bim" Riddle, whom she married on July 3, 1948 in Cleveland, Ohio and who died on January 24, 2006 and by her two sons, Norman Riddle and Paul Lawson. Family and friends may call at the MASON Funeral Home, 37 Clinton Street, Westfield, NY on Saturday, March 1, 2014 from 2 PM until the time of services there at 4 PM with Rev. Kevin Connolly officiating. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a Charity of one's choice.
