Obituary of Josephine Arcadipane

WESTFIELD - Josephine (Foti) Arcadipane, age 90, of Westfield, died Monday morning, January 20, 20144 at the home of her daughter in Fredonia following an extended illness. Josephine was born on October 2, 1923 in Westfield, NY, the daughter of the late Salvatore P. and Dominica (Tempio) Foti. She was a 1942 graduate of Brocton High School and continued her studies at Bryant and Strattan Business School in Buffalo. She assisted her late husband Sam in the daily operation of their grape vineyards. Josephine had been employed in the garment industry for over 30 years first at the former Barmon Brothers Sewing Factory and retired from the former Westfield Sewing factory. She had also been employed by the former Westfield Health Care Center in the Activities Department for 5 years and then volunteered for the Waters of Westfield for the next 6 years, also in activities until her health would no longer allow her to participate. She enjoyed helping others and truly lived to do for others. She was an avid gardener and loved flowers. Mrs. Arcadipane was a member of St. Dominic Roman Catholic Parish of Westfield and was a Life member of the St. Dominic Parish Altar And Rosary Society. Josie was a member of the Women Of The Moose Chapter 517 and a member its College of Regents and was also a member of the Wm. P Jackway Post 6764 VFW Auxiliary both of Westfield, NY She is survived by three daughters: Margaret (Roger) Markham of Webster, NY, Charlene (Tom) Pallone of Tallahassee, FL, Nancy Akam of Fredonia, NY and two sons: Samuel P. (Connie) Arcadipane and John (Joanne) Arcadipane both of Westfield, NY. Josie was very proud to have 13 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. She is further survived by her sister, Antoinette Cooper of Cleveland, OH. She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 1/2 years, Salvatore S."Sam" Arcadipane whom she married on July 24, 1943 and who died on January 9, 2013 as well as by her sister, Rosari Pingatore, and her brother, Salvatore "Sam" Foti. Friends may call at the MASON Funeral Home, 37 Clinton St., Westfield, NY on Friday, January 24, 2014 from 2-5 PM and are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial to be held on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at 10AM at St. Dominic Roman Catholic Church, 15 Union Street, Westfield, NY with Father Joseph Walter officiating. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery, Westfield. A Parish Rosary Service will be held at 2 PM on Friday at the Funeral Home.
