Obituary of Marjorie R. Owens

WESTFIELD- Marjorie R."Marge" Owens, age 94, of Westfield, died Monday, August 19, 2013 at St. Vincent Health Center of Erie, PA. after a brief illness. She was born November 10, 1918 in Jamestown, N.Y. the daughter of the late Ralph and Kathleen (Frissell) Robinson. Marge graduated from Jamestown High School and went on to receive her degree in education from Fredonia State Teachers College. After teaching for a few years, she continued to substitute while raising her family. On Christmas day, December 25,1940, Marjorie married Robert Owens in Jamestown NY. and together they raised three daughters. Marge was an accomplished homemaker, she loved taking care of her home and family. She loved to play golf and bridge with her friends, she even had two hole-in-ones during her golf career. And during her down times she was an avid reader. Marge was a member of the Chautauqua Ladies Golf Association Auxiliary, Flower Guild for St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Union Relief of Westfield, and a member of the Eastern Star. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and loved spending time with her family and friends but most of all cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Marjorie is survived by three daughters: Sue (Carl) Vandevelde of Westfield, NY, Kathleen(Dan) Shannon of Littleton, CO, Linda(Patrick) Sheehan of Irvine, CA, she is further survived by five grandchildren, Kelly Shannon, Heather Krause, Angela Lindsay, Mark Vandevelde, Michael Sheehan and by her eight great-grandchildren. Friends may call on Friday, August 23 from 4-7 pm at the MASON Funeral Home, 37 Clinton Street, Westfield, NY. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 24, 2013 at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 12 Elm Street, Westfield, NY with Rev. Virginia Carr officiating. Burial will be held privately in the Westfield Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Peters Episcopal Church, 12 Elm Street, Westfield, NY 14787.
