Obituary of Ruth E. Chapman

Ruth E. (Bentley) Chapman, age 92, of North East, PA, formerly of Ripley and Westfield, NY, died Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at Twinbrook Medical Center in Lawrence Park, PA. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced in Friday's newspaper by the MASON Funeral Home, 37 Clinton St., Westfield, NY. Ruth E. (Bentley) Chapman, age 92, of Gibson St., North East, PA, formerly of Ripley and Westfield, NY, died Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at Twinbrook Medical Center in Lawrence Park, PA. Ruth was born at home on January 29, 1921 in Ripley, NY the daughter of the late Grove and Laura (Sinden) Bentley. A resident of North East since 2007, she had previously resided in Ripley, NY until 1974 when she and her husband moved to Westfield. Mrs. Chapman was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She had been employed at Lord Mfg in Erie, PA during the 1940's. Ruth was a dedicated home maker who enjoyed cooking, sewing, and raising her family She was an accomplished quilter and enjoyed bowling with her husband well into her 80's. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Edgar B. Chapman, whom she married on June 8, 1946, two sons: Dennis (Jackie) Chapman of Ripley, NY and Ronald Chapman of Erie, PA. Ruth was the grandmother of Michael (Kimberly) Chapman of North East, and Andrew Chapman of Jamestown, NY. She is further survived by her 4 Great Grandchildren, Kody, Sophie, Grayson & Tucker all of North East, PA. She was preceded in death by her sister, Edna McKillip, and by her 4 brothers, Everett, Wayne, Ross and Ford Bentley. Friends and family may call at the MASON Funeral Home, 37 Clinton Street, Westfield, NY, on Sunday, August 18 from 1PM until 3 PM. The Funeral Service will immediately follow at 3:00 pm with Pastor Phillip Johnson officiating. Burial will be private in Quincy Rural Cemetery, Ripley, NY.
