Obituary of Lovis G. Gilbert

WESTFIELD - Lovis G. "Junior" Gilbert, Jr., age 80, of Westfield, died Friday, May 10, 2013 at St. Vincent Health Center in Erie, PA following an extended illness. Lovis was born on November 10, 1932 in Ripley, NY, the son of the late Lovis and Ruth (Miller) Gilbert, Sr. Mr. Gilbert was a member of the West Portland Baptist Church and the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge # 118 of Westfield. He had been employed by General Electric in Erie, PA for many years prior to working as a driver for Hardaway Concrete in Lexington SC. Lovis and Carolyn returned to Chautauqua County almost 13 years ago. He enjoyed NASCAR (the Earnhardt Teams) and the Country Music of George Straight. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. His family was everything to him. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Carolyn M.(Kelsey) Gilbert, whom he married on March 24, 1951, his four daughters: Linda (Ralph) Gaszynski of Fredonia, NY, Beverly (James) Jones of Westfield, NY, Bonnie (Paul) Kelley of Stockton, NY, Sandra (Danny) Tucker of Johnson, KS and two sons: James (Teresa) Gilbert of SC, and Lovis Gilbert III of Gilbert, SC; his three brothers: Robert Gilbert, Sr. of Ripley, NY, Raymond Gilbert, Sr. of Hartfield, NY and Ronald Gilbert, Sr. of Ripley, NY. 15 Grandchildren, 30 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great Great Grandson also survive. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Brenda Gilbert, his 2 Grandsons, Ralph Gaszynski, Jr., and James Jones, his Great Granddaughter, Kayla Tolbert, and by his Brothers, Miley Gilbert, Richard Gilbert, Sr., Kenneth Gilbert and Paul Gilbert and by his sisters, Betty Pierce, and Mary Ann Walters. Friends may call at the MASON Funeral Home, 37 Clinton Street, Westfield, NY, on Monday, May 13 from 6-8 PM and again on Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at the West Portland Baptist Church, 7081 West Main Road, Westfield, NY from 10 AM until the time of Funeral Services there at 11 AM with Rev.
