Obituary of Salvatore S. Arcadipane

WESTFIELD - Salvatore S. "Sam" Arcadipane, age 92, of Westfield, NY, died peacefully, Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at St. Vincent Health Center of Erie, PA, surrounded by his family. Salvatore was on born September 24, 1920 in Buffalo, NY, the son of the late Salvatore and Ignasia (Vuolo) Arcadipane. A Westfield resident most all his life, Sam served with the US Navy Amphibious Forces during WW II in both the Atlantic and Pacific theaters. He had been employed by Larry Spacc and the former Dengler Chevrolet, both in Dunkirk as an Automotive Mechanic. He had also worked for the former Westfield Sommers Juice Company (Mogen David Wine Corp.) and retired from General Electric, Erie plant, as a Crane Operator after 18 plus years of service. Sam was a lifetime member of the Wm. P. Jackway VFW Post 6764, the NRA, and the Westfield Fish and Game club where he spent many years as a Hunters Safety Instructor. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and all that the great outdoors had to offer. He was known for his saw sharpening skills. Sam was a member of St. Dominic Roman Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife of over 69 years, Josephine(Foti) Arcadipane, whom he married on July 24, 1940 and by his three daughters, Margaret (Roger) Markham of Webster, NY, Charlene (Tom) Pallone of Tallahassee, FL, Nancy Akam of Fredonia, NY and his two sons, Sam (Connie) Arcadipane and John (Joanne) Arcadipane both of Westfield, NY. 13 Grandchildren, 22 Great Grandchildren and 2 Great Great Grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his three brothers, Charles B. Arcadipane, Charles R. Arcadipane, Leonard Arcadipane, and by his three sisters, Annie Rizzo, Connie Pedini and Kathryn Miano. Friends may call on Sunday, January 13, 2013 from 2-5 PM at the MASON Funeral Home, 37 Clinton Street, Westfield, NY, and are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be held on Monday, January 14, 2013 at 11 AM at St. Dominic Roman Catholic Church, 15 Union Street, Westfield, NY with Father Joseph Walter officiating. Private burial will be in St. James Cemetery. A Parish Rosary Service will be held Sunday afternnoon at 2 PM.
