WESTFIELD - Donald R. Stumpf, age 77, of Westfield, died Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at Brooks Memorial Hospital in Dunkirk, NY. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by the MASON Funeral Home, 37 Clinton, Westfield, NY. . WESTFIELD - Donald R. "Stumpy" Stumpf, age 77, of Westfield, died Peacefully, Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at Brooks Memorial Hospital of Dunkirk, NY with his family by his side due to complications of Alzheimer's Disease. Don was born on February 23, 1936 in Hackensack, NJ. He is the son of the late Herman and Hilda Stumpf. Don had been the owner of the former Dicar Pools, a well known Swimming Pool sales and installation company in Westfield, for many years until his retirement several years ago. He had been in partnership with his brother in law, Donald Kurek at the former Esso Gas Station at the corner of North Portage and Hawley Streets from 1959 until he went to work for Ajax Corp in the 1970's. Don loved the outdoors and all animals, especially horses. He was an accomplished Ferrier (Horse Shoer) and enjoyed riding and caring for the horses. He was a member of the Portage Trail Riders Club. He enjoyed music and was a huge fan of Pink Floyd. Stumpy enjoyed being active and could be seen enjoying his walks around Westfield. However, most of all, Stumpy enjoyed spending time with friends and family and cherished every moment he could spend with his grandchildren, Michael and Steven. He is survived by his two daughters, Heidi (Jody) Trippy of Westfield, NY, Johanna (Joseph) McQuiggan of Bear Lake, NY and by his four grandchildren, Michael and Steven Trippy of Westfield, Lindsay McQuiggan of Blasdell, NY and, Karly McQuiggan of Bear Lake, NY. 2 Great Grandchildren as well as his brother, Robert (Arlene) Stumpf of Milford, NJ, his sister in law, Naomi Kurek of Bemus Point, NY, and his brother in law, Martin Wilbur of Malmo, Sweden also survive. He was preceded in death by his wife Barbara J. (Wilbur) Stumpf, whom he married on June 28, 1958 and who died on December 13,1994. Friends may call at the MASON Funeral home, 37 Clinton St., Westfield, NY on Monday evening, June 17, 2013 from 6-8 PM. Funeral Services will be private.
