Obituary of Gary M. Green

WESTFIELD - Gary M. Green, age 75, of Franklin St., Westfield died Saturday, November 10, 2012 at home following a brief illness. Gary was born on September 18, 1937 in Batavia, NY the son of the late John and Anna (Adams) Green. He was a graduate of Corfu Central School in Corfu, NY and received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education and Master of Science degree in Reading Education from SUNY Fredonia. Gary was a member and past President, Librarian, and Co-chair of the Chautauqua County Weavers Guild and a member of the Chautauqua Chapter, American Guild of Organists; having served as Dean, Sub-Dean, and Instructor at Pipe Organ Encounters, a program introducing children and adults to the pipe organ. He had also given private piano and pipe organ lessons. Gary also held membership with the New England Historic Genealogical Society, a resource for extensive genealogical research conducted over fifty years and was also a member of Jericho Lake, Inc. ,a private area, in Darien Center, NY where the family cottage was located. He served in the National Guard for 2 years. He retired from Westfield Academy and Central School in Westfield, NY as an Elementary School Teacher in 1992 after 21 years of service. He is survived by his wife: Justine Elaine (Ferguson) Green whom he married on July 11, 1959 and his son: Jonathan David Green (Lynn Marie Buck) of Normal, IL. He is further survived by his sister: Gail (Harvey) Stalker of Batavia, NY. Respecting Gary's wishes all services will be private.
