WESTFIELD - Claire A. Post, age 82, of the Sherman-Westfield Rd., Westfield, NY, died Tuesday, morning November 6, 2012 at St. Vincent Health Center, in Erie, PA. Clair was born March 9, 1930 in Union City, PA, the son of the late Claire Anson and Florence (Hall) Post. He was a graduate of Corry Area High School and enlisted in the US Army and was sent to IBM Technical training in Endicott, NY to learn Computer repair and programming. He served honorably from 1948 until his discharge in 1952 as a Technical Sergeant First Class. When his enlistment was over he returned home and worked in the computer departments of Sylvania Corp. in Warren, PA and then Welch Foods in Westfield, NY. Simultaneously, he attended Gannon College in Erie where he earned his bachelor's degree in Business Administration. Well respected in his field, Claire had been employed by various companies in the emerging Data Processing profession, most recently for DSA of Erie, and retired in 1992. He was an avid card player who enjoyed cribbage and poker as well as bowling. Clair was a member and past president of the Chautauqua Lake Region Antique Automobile Club and enjoyed tinkering with his antique cars. Claire was an accomplished Trap and Skeet shooter and was a longtime member of Westfield Fish and Game Club where he participated in several skeet and trap leagues. He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter. He held memberships in: the NRA, the Jamestown AMVETS, the Mayville American Legion Post, the Wm. P Jackway VFW Post 6764 and the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge # 118 both of Westfield. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Dorothy M.(Crump) Post, whom he married on May 5, 1956 in Westfield, his three daughters: Carol (Dan) Greco of Jamestown, NY, Gail (Larry) Jackson of Sherman, NY, Marie (Eric) Edwards of Westfield, NY and his son, Vern (Sue) Post of Mayville, NY. Claire was the proud grandfather of : Vern (Janelle) Post, Jr., Andrew (Loraine) Post, Amy Post, Dan "DJ" (Heather) Greco, Michelle (Glenn) Giles, Stephanie, Nathan and Gregory Jackson, Rachael (Daryn) Coon and Derek (Brittany) Edwards. Clair is further survived by 10 great grandchildren and his sister, Joyce Newton of North East, PA Friends may call at the First Presbyterian Church and Society of Westfield, 49 So. Portage St., Westfield, NY, on Saturday, November 10, 2012 from 1 PM until the time of services there at 2 PM with Rev. Stephen Morse officiating. Claire's family will continue to receive friends in the fellowship hall of the church following the services. Burial will be private. Memorials may be made to Westfield Fish and Game Club, Ogden Road, PO Box 481, Westfield, NY 14787 or to a charity of choice.
