The world has lost one of it's classiest residents. Mary was gentle, kind, patient and benevolent. When the Rideout clan gathered - she was an island of tranquility in a sea of verbosity. Carol - I'm glad you spent all these years close to your mother. You had a wonderful relationship that you will cherish the rest of your life - and resume later in the next place. Your mother made a difference in this world. You only need to read the remarks made by her former students to know how she touched lives. Teaching is the greatest profession and she was an excellent teacher. My favorite memories of your mother all revolve around the Thanksgiving's in Alexander when all 28 members of the family were together. She never stopped smiling. I think we all brought out the best in each other. We are many, many years and miles removed from those days with cousins scattered from Alaska to Ethopia and points in between. But we still have those Thanksgiving bonds that bind us across the miles - just as you still have the bond with your mother that will carry you across the multiple dimensions that we know exist in the universe. Love - Bill and Betty Anne

My favorite memory of my Aunt Mary would have to be the Juice Newton concert we went to at Chautauqua Institute. It was many many years ago. I was having a great time watching and listening to Juice. I turned to see if Aunt Mary was enjoying the performance and lo and behold she was no where to be found. I looked all over and finally found her standing near a railing with tissues in her ears! I guess she didn't love Juice as much as I did. I will always remember her pleasant smile and sense of humor. You are missed but no longer in such pain...love you Aunt Mary....Eleanor

Mary was one of my favorite teachers in school. She was so patient and kind. Did she ever come home and scream in a pillow after a day with a class? She will be missed.

My deepest sympathy goes out to Mrs. Rideout's family. Although I didn't have the pleasure of having her as a teacher at WACS, she will always be remembered as one of the best teachers in the school. God Bless from the...class of 1986

To the family of Mrs. Rideout, She was my very favorite teacher, from years ago. She helped me become the person I am today. She was wonderful and it is with deepest sympathy that I write this. She and my Mom enjoyed the Thursday card playing group which brought great enjoyment to both of them.Again, from my Mom and me, Bless you and may God give you strength and know that we, along with MANY others, will miss her greatly.
