Obituary of Irene Nusom

WESTFIELD - Irene (Keyser) Nusom, "MiMi", age 74, of Westfield died Wednesday evening, December 7, 2011 at Select Specialty Hospital in Erie, PA. Irene was born on October 20, 1937 in Manila, Philippines, the daughter of the late Roy and Aida (Aragone) Keyser. A Westfield resident for the last 47 years, Irene came to the US from the Philippine Islands thru the "This Is Your Life Program" by Ralph Edwards, at the age 16. In 1958, she met the love of her life, Claude Nusom in Compton, California. They made a life together and moved back to Westfield in 1964. She raised her family and had worked as a nurse's aide at the former Westfield Health Care Center from the time it opened until she became disabled and could no longer work. She had also been employed at Better Baked foods for many years prior to the nursing home. She was an avid Bingo player and a Nintendo fanatic! She loved to cook and was known for her Apple Pie. Her family and grandchildren meant the world to her. She is survived by her one daughter: Luana L. Brown of Westfield, and her four sons: William R. "Porky" Nusom of Altoona, PA, Jon D. Nusom of Westfield, C. Christopher "Chachi" Nusom of Jamestown, NY, and Jason J. Nusom of Westfield. 13 Grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren also survive. Irene is further survived by her sister: Gertrude Ries of Colorado and her two brothers: Eugene Keyser of Colorado, Ralph Keyser of San Diego, CA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Nusom, her brother, Woodrow Keyser, and her granddaughter, April Lynn Hayes. Friends may call on Sunday, December 11, 2011 from 3-5PM at the MASON Funeral Home, 37 Clinton Street, Westfield, NY, where Funeral Services will be held at 5:00 PM with Pastor Mark Shettler, officiating.
