Obituary of Helen M. Golden

WESTFIELD-Helen M. (Beers) Golden, age 85, of Cass St., formerly of Bourne St., Westfield, died Monday, September 19, 2011 at Absolut Care of Westfield. Helen was born on October 11, 1925 in Westfield, NY, the daughter of the late Pearl and Mary (Nichols) Beers. She attended Westfield Academy and during WW II was employed in Erie, PA, supporting the War effort. She was then employed by Margaret Anthony's Nursing Home in Dunkirk as a Physical Therapy Aide and retired from Westfield Memorial Hospital as a Physical Therapy Aide in the late 1980's. Helen enjoyed knitting and sewing and all kinds of crafts. However she will always be remembered for her baking, especially her pies, rolls and sweet rolls. She loved all animals and adopted several strays over the years. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Mrs. Golden was a member of First United Methodist Church of Westfield where she was a Sunday school teacher for many years. She is survived by three sons: Howard (Deborah) E. Golden of Brocton, NY, Edward (Beverly) Golden of Erie, PA, and Kenneth (Carole) Golden of Derby, KS, as well as her 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Helen is further survived by her two sisters, Eleanor Lancaster and Mary Syper, both of Westfield. She was preceded in death by her Husband, Kenneth E. Golden, her granddaughter, Judi Golden, her great granddaughter, Heather Moore, her Daughter in Law, Rachel (DuChaine) Golden, her sister, Betty Saunders, and her brother, Donald Beers. Friends may call on Thursday, Sept. 22, 2011 from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM at the MASON Funeral Home, 37 Clinton Street, Westfield, NY, and are invited to attend her funeral service on Friday morning at 11:00 AM at the First United Methodist Church of Westfield, 101 East Main Street, Westfield, with Rev. Matthew Golibersuch officiating. Burial will be in Westfield Cemetery.
