Obituary of Lucy Ellen Marsala

WESTFIELD - Lucy Ellen (Sottile) Marsala, of Main Street, Barcelona, died Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at the Chautauqua County Home and Infirmary, Dunkirk, NY on her 90th birthday. Lucy was born on September 6, 1921 in Westfield, NY, the daughter of the late Santo and Katherine (Pampalone) Sottile. A Westfield area resident most all her life, Lucy had been employed as a Weigh Master for Mogen David Wine Co. for many years. She had also worked for Seneca Grape Juice Co., the former Eagle Ridge Ski area in the cafeteria, and in the Bindery Dept. of the former Belknap Business Forms. She had volunteered as a Gray lady of Westfield Memorial hospital for several years and enjoyed crocheting, knitting, crossword puzzles and gardening. Lucy touched the lives of everyone she met; she had that "special way" about her. Mrs. Marsala was a member of St. Dominic Roman Catholic Parish in Westfield, the Church's Altar and Rosary Society, and the YWCA of Westfield. She is survived by one daughter: Kathryn Comerford-Issler and her husband Tom of Westfield, her granddaughter, Connie (Rob) Bates, her grandson, Christopher Comerford and her great granddaughter, Ellie K. Bates, all of Fredonia. She is further survived by her sister, Anne Marzullo of Spartanburg, SC. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Alfonso Marsala, her second husband, Joseph Marsala, her two sons, George and Richard Marsala, as well as by her two brothers, Joseph and William Sottile. Friends may call on Friday evening, Sept. 9, 2011, from 6 to 9 PM at the MASON FUNERAL HOME, 37 Clinton St., Westfield, NY and are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday morning, Sept 10, 2011 at 11:00 AM at St. Dominic Roman Catholic Church, 15 Union Street, Westfield with Father Marius J. Walter officiating. Burial will be private. A Parish Rosary service will be held at the Funeral Home Friday evening at 6:00 PM.
