Edward J. Kraus

February 11, 1931 – August 2, 2024

Edward J. “Jack” Kraus, 93, of Ripley, NY passed away on Friday morning August 2, 2024 at his home with his family at his side.

He was born on February 11, 1931 in Bridgeville, PA, the son of the late Benjamin and Dorothy (nee Shumacher) Kraus.

Ed is survived by two children, Linda DePersis of Pittsburgh, Pa. and Cindy Davis of Canonsburg, Pa.; five grandchildren, Adam Pennick, Robert (April) and Andrew (Lorin) Davis, Victoria (Chris Rogers) and Jenny DePersis; two great- grandchildren, Trinity and Keegan Harris; a brother, Ben Kraus and a sister, Dorothy (late Orvil) McMillen.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 40 years, Shirley (nee Laucher) Kraus, a daughter, Sherry Pennick and a son, Jack Kraus

Ed worked in construction industry as a brick layer. He sub-contracted for Ryan Homes in the Pittsburgh, Pa. for many years ,  working on homes all over W. Pa. He also owned a grape farm in Ripley, NY where he tended the grapes well into his 80’s.

Ed was always known for his upbeat and positive personality. Any time you ever saw him he was smiling, he never frowned.

He enjoyed fishing and loved black Labradors, for 40+ years he had a black lab with the same name “Dutchie”.

At the request of the deceased, there will no viewing or service.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mason Funeral Home, 37 Clinton St. Westfield, NY.
