Obituary of Hedwig Ponka

Hedwig Ponka, age 90, of 13 Colburn Street, Westfield died Monday, August 15, 2011 at home with her family at her side. Mrs. Ponka was born January 2, 1921 at Warsaw,Poland the daughter of the late Michael and the late Magdalena Koch. Mrs. Ponka was married in Germany in 1945 to her late husband, Conrad, who died in 1991. She retired from Van Raelt Corp. Dunkirk, NY as a Pattern Grader in 1966. She is survived by one son: Andrew (Katherine) Ponka of Westfield, N.Y.;Granddaughter, Elizabeth (Scott) Christensen of Jamestown, NY; Grandson, Michael Ponka of Cuba, N.Y.; great grandchildren, McKensi and Gavin Ponka; and Evan Christensen. The funeral will be held privately at St. Hedwigs Cemetery, in Dunkirk with Father Matt Nycz officiating. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials may be made to Fire Department of Westfield Memorial Fund, 23 Elm Street, Westfield, NY 14787 or to Hospice Of Chautauqua County, 20 West Fairmont Avenue, Lakewood, NY 14750.
