1942-2024

Peggy Ann Amidon, age 81, of Bradenton, Florida, formerly of Portland, New York, passed away on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 . She was married to the love of her life, Arthur Amidon on August 12, 1961. She was born in Jamestown, New York on July 11, 1942; the daughter of the late Melvin and Rachael Tenhuisen. She is predeceased by step-fathers Donald Stapleton and Charles Shear; and dear sisters Mae Louise Tenhuisen, Catherine Bimes, and Linda (Jerry) Pettit. She is survived by her loving children April (Roland) Marshall, Brenda (Mike) Rizzo, and Greg (Helena) Amidon; seven dear grandchildren Tiffany (Shane) Amidon, Theodore (Crystal) Shreve, Jessica (Charlie) Ray, Ryan Amidon, Michael (Dakoda) Rizzo, Caitlyn Shreve, and Erica Rizzo (Kyle) Moffitt; 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; and a dear sister, Melvia Mellors.

Peggy graduated from Sherman Central School and Jamestown Community College. She worked many years as a Personal Care Aide and Home Health Aide, at the Adult Day Care in Westfield and Dunkirk, and as a Teacher’s Aide at the Erie- Chautauqua- Cattaraugus LoGuidice Center in Fredonia, NY. She found the time spent with the children and teachers in Special Education a very rewarding and interesting career. Peggy has wintered in Florida for 15 years becoming a resident in 2019. She enjoyed reading, camping, computers, and spending time with family. Services are private.
