Obituary of Sandra L. Meyers

WESTFIELD - Sandra L. "Sandy" (Hohenstein) Meyers, age 65, of Backman Ave., Westfield went to be with the Lord early Monday morning, August 8, 2011 at Heritage Park Nursing Home in Jamestown following 4 months of Hospitals and Nursing Homes. Sandy was on born April 9, 1946 in Dunkirk, NY, the daughter of the late Frederick Charles and Grace (Wright) Hohenstein. She married George Roger Meyers on October 6, 1973 in Dunkirk, NY. A Chautauqua County resident all her life, Sandy had worked for many years as a nurse's aide at Brooks Memorial Hospital in Dunkirk. She enjoyed all sorts of crafts and had made many pieces of ceramics for all the different holidays. Every year, they would be put on display in her home, especially Christmas. She enjoyed making artificial flower arrangements and giving them to friends. Sandy was an excellent cook and an immaculate housekeeper. She had been the head coach, with her husband George assisting, for the Special Olympics bowling for adults at Lucky Lanes from about 1995 to 2002 when failing health made it impossible for her to continue. Sandy came to a saving knowledge in the Lord Jesus Christ on March 11, 1982 and had been a faithful member of the West Portland Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband of 37 years, George Roger Meyers, her two daughters: Jennifer "Jenny" Lee Meyers of Westfield and Karen Renae Bundy of West Seneca, NY, and her loving granddaughter Jenna Lee Bundy also of West Seneca. Friends may call on Wednesday, August 10, 2011 from 6-8 PM at the MASON Funeral Home, 37 Clinton Street, Westfield, NY, and are invited to attend the funeral service on Thursday at 11:00 am at the West Portland Baptist Church, 7081 West Main Road, Westfield with Rev. Ryan Grafton officiating. Private burial will be in Westfield Cemetery. Memorials may be left with the Funeral Home for her family.
