Obituary of G. Scaccia

WESTFIELD - G. Mae (Zito) Scaccia, age 98, of West Main St., Westfield, died Sunday, June 12, 2011 Millard Fillmore Hospital in Buffalo, following an extended illness. Mae was born on June 26, 1912 in Cleveland, OH, the daughter of the late Frank and Mariana (DiMarco) Zito. She had been employed by Pecks Cannery as a Food Inspector / Analyst and then for WT Grant Co. for many years until they closed. She enjoyed ceramics, crocheting and knitting. She was known by her family and friends for her wonderful baking and cooking. Her Christmas cookies were her specialty. Mae was a Member of St. Dominic Roman Catholic Church, and the Parish Altar and Rosary Society as well as a member of the Women of The Moose Chapter 517 of Westfield. She is survived by her daughter: Geraldine A. Benzing of Grand Island, NY and her son, Sandy F. (Sharon) Scaccia of Mequon, WI, her granddaughter, Nicole (Robert) Agnello and her great Grandson, Robert Agnello, III, all of Grand Island. She is further survived by her sister Frances Bellino and her brother Joseph Zito both of Independence, OH, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Andrew Scaccia, and her brothers, John, Peter, Philip, Anthony and Benjamin Zito Friends may call on Wednesday, June 15, 2011 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the MASON Funeral Home, 37 Clinton Street, Westfield, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday morning at 11:00 AM at St. Dominic Roman Catholic Church, 15 Union Street, Westfield, NY with Father Marius J. Walter officiating. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery. A Parish Rosary will be held at the Funeral Home on Wednesday evening at 6:30 PM.
