Richard D. “Dick” Marshall,

76, of Westfield, NY passed away on Monday evening, March 29, 2023 at Absolut Care of Westfield.

He was born on May 25, 1947 in Erie, Pa, the son of the late David and Edna (Perrine) Marshall.

On September 5, 1976 he married the former Barbara Syper in Westfield, NY.

Dick leaves behind to cherish his memory, his beloved wife of 48 years, Barbara Marshall; a daughter,

Vikki (Patrick) Bowen of Westfield, NY; a son, Douglas (Julie Chipman) Marshall of Jamestown, NY;

five grandchildren, Joseph and Nicholas (Bridget Degan) Marshall, Damean and Charles Bowen and Matthew Tsitso;

a brother, Jim (Sue) Alcorn of North East, Pa; a sister, Sue (Bob) Osborne of Monessen, Pa.

Dick graduated from North East High School in 1965.He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, having served his time stationed in Germany.

He worked for Welch’s in North East, Pa, retiring on September 1, 2011 with 42 years of service.

He was a former chief of the Westfield Fire Dept. and received the nickname of “Papa Smurf” after purchasing a blue fire truck during his tenure.

He was accomplished Auctioneer in WNY and WPA. He owned and operated a Balloons-R-Fun balloon business, “ Whisker’s the Clown”.

He loved making balloon animals and decorated for many weddings and events. He also was a member of the Zem Zem Shrine Clowns, “Twisty” and at Christmas he was Santa for many functions.

Relatives and friends may call at the Mason Funeral Home, 37 Clinton St. Westfield, NY on Thursday, June 1, 2023 from 5-7 PM.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 2, 2023 at the United Methodist Church of Westfield, NY 101 E. Main St. Westfield, NY at 11 AM.

Interment will be in the Westfield Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contribution in Dick’s memory to the Westfield Fire Dept. or the United Methodist Church of Westfield.
