WESTFIELD - Dorothy B. (Smith) Wright, age 77, of Bliss Road, Westfield, died Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at Select Specialty Hospital in Erie, PA , following an extended illness.
Dorothy was born on August 19, 1933 in Westfield, NY the daughter of the late Louis and Mildred (Brumagin) Smith.
A Westfield resident all her life, Dorothy was a graduate of Westfield Academy and had been employed by Welch Foods in Westfield in the Corporate Offices. While raising her family, she was employed by the Westfield Day Care Center at the Presbyterian Church and later was active in the after school program and "Teen Nights" at the YWCA. She greatly enjoyed working with the children and youth of Westfield.
Dorothy enjoyed crafts, baking and her many friends. However, Dorothy's children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were the love of her life.
Dorothy was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and Society of Westfield, the Beta Sigma Phi, social sorority and the YWCA of Westfield.
She is survived by her two daughters: Cindy (Rick) Mathews of Westfield, and Mary Beth (Harry) Blanchard of Ft. Walton Beach, FL, and her one son: Steven R. (LuAnn) Wright also of Westfield. 7 Grandchildren and 2 Great Grandchildren also survive. Dorothy is further survived by her brother William Smith of Westfield.
She was preceded in death by husband, of 44 years, Lloyd R. Wright, whom she married on July 20, 1956 and who died on Nov. 11, 2000, her sister Charlotte Lewis and her brother Clarence Smith.
Friends may call on Friday, April 15, 2011 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the MASON Funeral Home, 37 Clinton Street, Westfield, NY, and are invited to attend her funeral services on Saturday morning at 11:00 AM at The First Presbyterian Church and Society of Westfield, 49 So. Portage St., Westfield, with Rev. Stephen Morse officiating. Private burial will be in Westfield Cemetery.
