Obituary of Marguerite L. Bowen

WESTFIELD - Marguerite L. (Lillie) Bowen, age 87, of Westfield died Saturday, January 15, 2011 at Westfield Memorial Hospital following an extended illness. Marguerite was born on September 8, 1923 in Westfield, NY the daughter of the late George E. and Wilhelmina (Karrow) Lillie. A Westfield resident most all her life, she had been a dedicated homemaker who loved and enjoyed her family. She enjoyed reading, sewing, flower gardening and was an accomplished seamstress. Marguerite had attended the First Baptist Church of Westfield. She was a former Officer and member of the Wm. P. Jackway Post 6764 VFW Auxiliary. She is survived by her three daughters: Judith A. Marsh and Linda L. Fox of Westfield, NY, Janet Lou Powers of Euless, TX and hr one son, Edward Merrell Bowen of Portland, OR. She is further survived by 8 Grandchildren and 14 Great Grandchildren as well as by her sister, Pauline Robinson of Portland, OR and her brother, Donald Lillie of Columbus, OH. She was preceded in death by her Husband, Merrell Bowen, whom she married on September 12, 1943 and who died on March 7, 2005, and by her granddaughter, Barbara Ann Brooker, her 3 sisters, Fae Koshute, Faith Lewis, Mary Carr, and her 2 brothers, Edward and Richard Lillie. At Marguerite's request, Funeral Services will be private at MASON Funeral Home, 37 Clinton Street, Westfield with Rev. Thayne Bodenmiller officiating.
