Obituary of Michael C Anzalone

WESTFIELD - Michael C. "Mike" Anzalone, age 89, of Lake Port Blvd., Leesburg, Florida, formerly of Westfield, died Monday, January 3, 2011 at home in Leesburg. Mr. Anzalone was born on September 20, 1921 in Westfield, NY, the son of the late Samuel and Mary (Grizanti) Catania Anzalone. A Westfield resident most all his life, Mike had resided in Florida with his nephew, Jim and his wife Linda, for the past five years. He was a 1939 graduate of Westfield Academy and was a Veteran of the US Army having served from 1942-1945 in the European Theater with the 786th Armored Division attaining the rank of sergeant. After returning home from the War, Mike was employed by GE in Erie from 1947-1954, and then became the owner and operator of the Holiday and Theater Motels, both of Westfield, and the former Westfield Drive-In Theater for many years prior to his retirement. Mr. Anzalone was a member of St. Dominic Roman Catholic Church, the Fr. Daniel Early Council 3100 Knights of Columbus, the John W. Rogers Post 327 American Legion, the Wm. P Jackway Post 6764 VFW and the Loyal Order Of Moose Lodge # 118 all of Westfield. He is survived by his two nephews, James (Linda) Anzalone of Leesburg, FL and Byron Homa of California. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann (Tarczinski) Anzalone, his four brothers, Anthony Anzalone, James Catania, Joseph Catania and Tony "Doc" Catania, as well as his three sisters, Betty Homa, Nancy Valvo and Pauline Amsler. Friends may call on Friday, January 7, 2010 from 3-6 PM at the MASON Funeral Home, 37 Clinton Street, Westfield, NY and are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday morning at 11:00 AM at St. Dominic Roman Catholic Church, 15 Union Street, Westfield.
