Obituary of Robert E. Wunder

WESTFIELD - Robert E. ''Bob'' Wunder, age 86, of West Avenue, Forest Park, Westfield, died Saturday, Sep. 18, 2010, at the home of his daughter in Mayville, N.Y., following an extended illness. Bob was born on July 12, 1924, in Fredonia, N.Y., the son of the late John and Catherine (Barnes) Wunder. A U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, Bob attained the rank of corporal and served in Central Europe. He had been employed as a Union Electrician for many years with IBEW Local 106 of Jamestown. Bob was a motorcycle enthusiast and enjoyed riding and traveling by motorcycle. He was a 22-year member of the BMW M.O.A. Bob was a member of the John W. Rogers Post 327 American Legion, The Wm. P Jack-way Post 6764 VFW and the Loyal Order Of Moose Lodge #118, all of Westfield. He is survived by his daughter, Barbara Miller, and her husband, Charles, of Mayville; and his son, Robert '''Mike'' Wunder, and his wife, Patricia, of Dunkirk, N.Y. Bob was the grandfather of Dr. Heather Conti of Fredonia, Karin Wunder of Ft. Myers, Fla, and Kevin Wunder of Dunkirk; and the great-grandfather of Sammy, Julia and Grace Conti and Mackenzy Leichter. He is further survived by his companion, Cleta Hull, of Mechanicsburg, Pa.; and his brother, Donald Wunder, of Hanover Park, Ill. Bob was preceded in death by wife of 35 years, Ruth Ann (Latimer) Wunder, whom he married on Feb. 15, 1947, and who died on Nov. 4, 1982; by his brother, John Wunder; and his two sisters, Catherine O'Malia and Patricia Parks.
