I'm not trying to enlarge Dick more in death than what he was in life, but I do see a comparison. As Bill France Jr, President of Nascar said after the death of Dale Earnhart, that during his life Dale fell somewhere between Clint Eastwood and John Wayne. He just as well could have been talking about Dick. He was a cowboy, he was genuine, he was intense and a natural at anything he did. But most of all he was my friend. An honor that I will cherish forever.Bill

I remember watching Dick race at Stateline Speedway in the 60's and 70's. In the 80's and 90's I was thrilled to race with him in the cadet class as he was somewhat of a legend to me. He was a tough competitor but also a real good guy. I'm sorry to hear of his passing and will always remember him wheeling the No. 10 1/2

I was so sad when I opened the paper and there was my friend Dick. I had just heard last week that he was not doing well. He sure did fight hard. I am so glad I got to meet you guys. Just wish the circumstances could have been different. I wish I had stopped by and I will try to in the next couple of weeks. I will pray for you. How great to know that "to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord"
