Constance B. Brauen, nee Nelson, age 77, Cheektowaga, NY, born Feb. 28, 1933, died Wednesday, May 5, 2010 surrounded by her family, after a valiant journey with Alzheimer's disease. Daughter of the late Charles and Catherine (Ruhland) Nelson. Wife of 52 years of Alfred "Bruce" Brauen. Mother of: Lynn (Joseph G.) Cisar of Manassas, VA, Gloria (James M.) Hayes of Westfield, NY, Kim (Larry) Bice of Parkhill, Ontario, Canada and Daniel (Kathy Cornwell) Brauen of Manassas, VA. Grandmother of Nicole Bice, Michael Bice and James M. Hayes, Jr. Sister of Catherine Morton of Williamsville, NY and Cecilia Drescher of Winter Park, FL Predeceased by her brothers, Charles, Clifford, Claude and Carl Nelson. She retired from SUNY Buffalo. She had been employed by Westinghouse for many years, was a charter member of the Ladies Aux., Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 2692 of Depew, and enjoyed Bingo at the Leonard Post. During her illness she spent time at the Amherst Adult Day Service. No calling hours will be observed. The funeral will be Monday at 10:00 AM at St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran Church, 55 Pleasant Avenue, Lancaster, NY, with Rev. John R. Scarafia officiating. Private Inurnment Lancaster Rural Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Amherst Adult Day Service, 370 John James Audubon Pkwy., Amherst, NY 14228. Funeral arrangements entrusted to MASON FUNERAL HOME, 37 Clinton St., Westfield, NY.
