Obituary of William F. Riedesel

WESTFIELD - William F. Riedesel, age 94, of Academy St., Westfield, died Thursday, April 1, 2010 at Absolut Care of Westfield. Bill was born on November 12, 1915 in Selma, OK , the son of the late John H. and Emma (Jacobsen) Riedesel. He served in the US Army in the European Theater during World War II . A Westfield resident most all his life, Bill had been employed by General Electric in Erie for many years and was a member of the GE Quarter Century Club. He had also been an active grape farmer, having a farm on West Main Rd. in Westfield for many years. He had been a member of National Grape Cooperative. Bill enjoyed automobiles and enjoyed collecting scale model cars. He was an avid weather watcher and enjoyed journaling. He took great pride in his yard and was an avid word search puzzler. Survivors include his sister, Ann Morehouse of Eustis, FL and his brother, Walter Riedesel of Westfield, NY. Bill is also survived by several step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren. 'Uncle Bill" is also survived by his many nieces and nephews and their children as well. Bill was preceded in death by his Wife, Marcia (Thompson) Riedesel, his two step-daughters, Dorothy Parker and Gertrude Vere, and by his five brothers, Henry, Albert, Herman, Alfred, and Arthur Riedesel. Friends may call on Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at the MASON FUNERAL HOME, 37 Clinton St., Westfield from 12 noon until the time of services there at 2 PM with Rev. William Leslie officiating.
