Westfield - Frank L. "Ike" Strain, age 60, of Sherman-Westfield Road, Westfield died Saturday, December 5, 2009 at home surrounded by family following a brief illness
Frank was born on May 15, 1949 in Westfield, NY the son of Emma Jean (Abbey) Strain of Ripley and the late Donald Strain.
A Westfield resident most all his life, Frank attended Westfield Schools and enlisted in the US Marine Corp. Upon his return home, he had been employed by Welch Foods at the Brocton and Westfield Plants, Better Baked Foods and Growers Co-Op, where he retired from as a Line Mechanic after many years of service. Ike, as he was known by many, was a hard working, honest and loving person who was very kind and helpful to others. He loved the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, four wheeling, camping and riding his motorcycle. He loved birds and all wild animals. Ike was a member of the Westfield Fish and Game Club, the Westfield Moose Lodge and the VFW. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed making people smile.
Besides his mother Emma Jean Strain of Ripley, Frank is survived by his wife of 10 years, Diane (Schrader) Strain whom he married on June 26, 1999 in Westfield, his sister, Laura "Punk" Farnham and her husband Tim of Westfield, and his brother: Edward "Short" Strain and his wife Janet, of Ripley, NY. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Strain
Friends may call at the MASON Funeral Home, 37 Clinton Street, Westfield, NY, on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-7:30 PM , where a time of remembrance, sharing, and celebration of Franks life will be held from 7:30Pm until 8 PM. Family and friends are encouraged to attend with stories and memories of Frank to share. Burial will be private in Volusia Cemetery.
