Obituary of L. Kestler

WESTFIELD - Laura Melvina Kestler, age 92, a resident of The Lutheran Retirement Center, Jamestown, formerly of Bemus point and Westfield, died Wednesday, November 29, 2006 at home. Mrs. Kestler was born on October 7, 1914 in Henryetta, OK the daughter of the late Claude and Elsie (Reed) Bennight. A Resident of Westfield from 1994-2005, she had previously resided in Bemus Point for over 45 years. Melvina had been employed by the former Clark Lord Feed Mill in Bemus Point during 1930?s and 40?s. She also was employed at the former Corn Crib Candy Store on 3rd St. in Jamestown. She was a 1934 graduate of Bemus Point High School. While residing in Bemus Point she was very active in the community with the school PTA, the Legion Auxillary, and with many other civic affairs. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting, walking and reading. She is survived by her son: Ernest J. Kestler of Fall River, MA her one grandson, David Kestler and her one granddaughter Devon Kestler both of Fall River, MA. Besides herparents, she was predeceased by her husband, Willard ?Bill? Kestler who died on Nov.10, 1995, and by her step father, Carl Bennight. No visiting hours will be held. A graveside interment service will be held in Bemus Point Cemetery in the spring.
