RIPLEY - Leroy B. Brown, Jr., age 75, of Goodrich Street, Ripley, NY, died Saturday, September 12, 2009 at Hamot Medical Center following an extended illness. Leroy was born on March 3, 1934 in Wattsburg, PA, the son of the late Mabel (Parker) Brown, and Leroy B. Brown, Sr. Leroy served his country with the US Marine Corps from 1953 to 1956 attaining the rank of Corporal. He had been employed for many years with the New York State DOT in Fredonia, NY as a heavy equipment operator. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Eva L. (Straughn) Brown, his two daughters and their husbands, Linda and Robert Marten, of Ripley and Judith and Gary Lindstrom of Jamestown. Leroy is further survived by his grandchildren that include; Billie Jo Reid of Ripley, Lee Roy Lindstrom of Erie, PA, Chris Lindstrom of Charlotte, NC, and his great grandson, Cody Lindstrom. He was preceded in death by his father, Leroy B. Brown, Sr., his mother Mabel Lanphere, and his two sisters, Pearl (Howard) Ettinger, and Lois Buesink. No calling hours will be observed. Funeral services will be private with burial in Quincy Rural Cemetery of Ripley. Memorials are suggested to the Ripley Hose Co., PO Box 342, Ripley, NY 14775.
