Obituary of Michael T. Cettell

PORTLAND - Michael T. Cettell, age 37, of Onthank Rd., Portland, NY, died Thursday, September 3, 2009 in the Town of Portland, as the result of an accident at work. Mike was born on September 4, 1971 in Westfield, NY the son of Charles J. and Margaret L. (Houser) Cettell, of Portland. He was a member of the West Portland Baptist Church, where he was involved in many church activities, especially the Church's youth group. Mike was a former member of the Portland Volunteer Fire Dept. where he served for the past 18 years and was a member of its exempt assoc. He had served the Dept. as EMS Captain and was a current NYS Registered EMT. Mike worked for the Brocton Central School district as a School Bus Driver and was also employed by Trebor LLC. He also served as the Town of Portland Dog Control Officer. He was an avid Steelers fan. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #118 of Westfield and the Westfield Fish and Game club. Mike had also been active with A.A. for several years. He will be remembered by all as a loving Husband, Son, Friend, and Uncle. Besides his parents of Portland, he is survived by his wife, Cathy A.(Schutt) Cettell, whom he married on July 29, 1995 in Westfield, his two sisters, Carol Harwood and Cathy Mills, both of Portland, NY and his two brothers: Richard Cettell of Westfield, and Joseph Cettell of Fredonia, NY. Mike was anxiously awaiting the arrival of the couple's first child in February 2010. He was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Cettell, Jr., his sister, Karen Cettell, and his nephew, Jeffrey Woollett. Friends may call on Monday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the MASON FUNERAL HOME, 37 Clinton St., Westfield and are invited to attend the funeral services on Tuesday at 11:00 AM at the West Portland Baptist Church, 7081 East Main Rd., Westfield, where the family will again receive friends for 1 hour prior to the service, with Rev. Ryan Grafton officiating. Private burial will be in Union Cemetery.
