Obituary of Carolyn R. Woodward

Carolyn Ruth White Woodward, 80, died Friday August 21, 2009, on the anniversary of her mother's death 13 years ago, after a brave struggle with cancer. Born March 3, 1929 at home in Nashville, NY, she was the daughter of the late Albion and Beatrice White. She graduated as salutatorian of the class of 1946 from Forestville High School after which she graduated from Bryant and Stratton Business School. While attending school she was also employed at Nobb's grocery store, owners of the fattest cat in town! After her marriage to William Hinton Woodward and the birth of her four children, Carolyn worked at various places culminating in an almost 30 year career at Welch Foods where she was much loved and respected by her co-workers. After retirement, Carolyn focused her energy on crafting, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren. She was an active and vital part of the First Baptist Church community, where she served as financial secretary. She was also active in children's ministries through which she made a lasting impression on many. Survivors include her husband of 56 years, William, their son, Stephen Woodward and three daughters, Susan Scriven and her husband Tom, Sally Cook and her husband Peter, and Sharon Randolph and her husband Victor; her grandchildren Elizabeth Gilson, Thomas Scriven, Rebecca Scriven, Pat Cook, Kati Pletcher, Phillip Cook, Nathaniel Roberts, Taylor Roberts, Jesse Woodward, and Nicholas Woodward; her sisters Pauline Partyka, Marjorie Pazda, Dorothy Snock, and Barbara Schulenburg, her brother Nelson White, and many nieces and nephews.
